Types of Leaks That Require Professional Leak Repairs

  • Toilet Leaks - Several complications can lead to toilet leaks, and your plumber will assess your toilet before performing leak repairs so that the problem is diagnosed properly. If the float ball doesn't lift, the inlet valve won't close, causing your toilet to leak or overflow. If the float ball and inlet valve aren't the culprits, then the source of the leaking is probably a tight flapper chain or a leak in the flapper.
  • Garbage Disposal Leaks - Garbage disposals often leak in three spots: from the top, from the side, and from the bottom. Leaks on the top are usually caused by a corroding or loosening seal of the sink flange. Leak repairs for a damaged sink flange involve reapplying putty or replacing screws of certain types of flanges. Leaking from the side is often caused by a leak at the drain line connection between the dishwasher and garbage disposal. Tightening or resealing the connections should resolve the problem effectively. A leak from the bottom of a garbage disposal is likely the result of a worn-out internal seal. If an internal seal is damaged, then replacing the garbage disposal might be the best thing to do if your garbage disposal if over 5 years old.
